Program Description:

This three-hour presentation will briefly review the multiple factors that increase vulnerability to developing an addictive disorder, in particular adverse childhood and community experiences.  The material will then be applied to a detailed description of clinical work highlighted with client videos and a visual “sculpture” that traces 7 years of treatment with a client who has a complex history of trauma related to adverse childhood experiences, sexual trafficking, incarceration and addiction.  A detailed description of this client’s treatment, stabilizations issues, key clinical decision points, and her pathways to recovery will be explored and discussed.
