Description of Event:

The 2026 START National Training Institute (SNTI) will highlight how values come alive across our network. This year’s theme, Values in Action: Holding Hope, Building Belonging, reflects our commitment to creating environments where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs (IDD-MH), their families, and their supporters feel connected, valued, and supported.

Values are only words unless they guide action. Across the START network, we bring our values to life through practice, language, policies, and relationships. This year’s theme reflects our values of positive engagement, openness to learning, teamwork, and community.

Hope is action oriented. It represents motivation and confidence that goals can be reached. Belonging fosters well-being and community strength, creating more connected, inclusive systems. This year’s theme invites us to reflect on how hope sustains us and sparks possibilities and how belonging creates space for collaboration, cultural humility, and shared vision. SNTI 2026 will showcase practices, partnerships, and innovations that demonstrate how values are lived out, and how together, we can hold hope and build belonging.
