Program Description:
While the current DSM does not include a diagnosis for Complex-Trauma, providers recognize the need for additional guidance when working with clients who have a different presentation than Simple PTSD.  This presentation will review a brief history of trauma disorders and treatment, as well as the seven guidelines for working with adults with complex trauma that was created by Division 56 (Trauma Psychology) and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).  These guidelines were approved and published by the American Psychological Association (APA) in August 2024.

Level of Instruction:
Intermediate

Learning Objectives:

1.     Describe the differences between simple and complex trauma

2.     Identify and explain the updated practice guidelines for treating adults with complex trauma history
