Program Description:
This webinar focuses on key issues relevant to the ethical, legal, and clinically effective practice of psychology in the areas of risk management and ethical decision making, boundaries and multiple relationships, telepsychology and integrating various technologies into practice, and ethics, legal, and clinical issues relevant to clinical supervision. Standards to which psychologists are held are reviewed and guidance is provided for fulfilling our ethical obligations. A model for ethical decision-making is reviewed to effectively respond to ethical dilemmas. Risk management strategies are reviewed for optimizing client outcomes while reducing liability risk for psychologists. Relevant professional standards are reviewed and a model for promoting ethical practice is presented. The role of diversity and individual differences is addressed for each of the topics discussed. Common challenges and dilemmas in boundaries and multiple relationships, when integrating technology into practice and practicing telepsychology, and in clinical supervision are addressed and recommendations for ethical, legal, and effective practice are provided to best meet ongoing client needs are addressed. Time is included for discussion and relevant clinical examples are provided to illustrate points being made.

About the Presenter:
Jeffrey E. Barnett, Psy.D., ABPP is a licensed psychologist and is board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Clinical Psychology and in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. Additionally, he is a Distinguished Practitioner in Psychology of the National Academies of Practice. He also is a Professor of Psychology at Loyola University Maryland. He is a nationally recognized expert in ethics and legal issues for mental health professionals and has served as chair of the ethics committees of the Maryland Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Board of Professional Psychology. He also has served as the Vice Chair of the Maryland Psychology Licensing Board. Dr. Barnett has numerous publications to include 13 books and over 250 articles and book chapters and over 400 professional presentations that focus on ethics, legal, and professional practice issues for mental health professionals. Among many other awards, he is the recipient of the APA’s Outstanding Ethics Educator Award.

Paying with a check:
Checks must be received within one week of the event. If payment has not been received, registrant will still have option to pay online with a credit card up until the day before the program. If an invoice remains open on the day of the event, the registrant will not be allowed to attend.
Cancellation policy:
Refunds, minus a 10% cancellation fee, will be issued for all cancellations received two weeks prior to the start of the course. No refunds or vouchers will be made thereafter. No-shows are not refunded.
Attendance policy:
Full attendance is required to obtain CEs per NHPA policy. No partial credit will be given. Those who attend the workshop and complete the evaluation form will receive 6 Ethics continuing education credits. Please note that APA CE rules require that we only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop. Those arriving after the scheduled start time or leaving before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credits.
Registrations are Transferable:
Registrants can transfer an event confirmation to another individual. The NHPA office must be notified of the transfer at least 24 hours prior to the event.

The New Hampshire Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.
